 | GIFTS OF SNOWFLAKES (revised***) | William Brettone | Novel | Literary Fiction | 19 | n/a | Oct 26, 2011 |
Summary:A sweeping tale that takes the reader from the mountains of the Southwest to the war-torn coast of Vietnam, and finally to New England. As a lonely teenager Gary meets Kristina Preston, the most stunning girl he has ever seen, and has no idea that his life will be forever changed. We follow Gary’s journey through life-altering twists of fortune that fling him from familiar worlds into others that are unknown and have unpredictable consequences. Along the way, there is adventure, drama, love, loss, sadness, revelations, unexpected events, the growth of wisdom and understanding, and many personal and social changes between the late 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s, as well as glimpses of Gary's life in the early 2000s.
I would appreciate feedback about your overall degree of interest in the story, as well as any other comments that come to mind. Thanks.Chapters: |
 | LOST IN TRANSITION | Lost Soul | Novel | Humor | 1 | n/a | Oct 4, 2011 |
Summary:Lost In Transition is the story about relationships. It is the story of a non traditional family whose Father is in the process of gender transformation to become a woman, while his wife is becoming a man. Caught in between is a precocious 13yr old girl who cannot stand either of them. Believe it or not, this story is based on a true life family in Wyoming. It is a tragic story in reality, but I have chosen to lighten it up and it is largely a sarcastic comedy told from the POV of the teen daughter Christye.
My primary concern here is that Christye sounds like and acts like her age, and not that of a man of any age. I would like to know if my story is compelling. If it hooks you, what hooked you? What works and what doesn't?
If you would like to edit as well, I would be happy to learn from you. Hopefully it won't be too much of a mess.
This is my attempt to return to the group after a long absence, and I appreciate any and all readers.
Cheers,

Summary:Stella is a fourteen year old girl who is at loose ends after her parents are killed in a bizarre killing in Washington D.C. The court has been instructed to have her live with her Aunt Roz in a tiny beach town just south of the city. However, Stella is resistant to change and wants to live with her errant uncle Finney and his home-bound wife, Debbie. Roz embarks on a campaign to sway the girl to her way of thinking and move to Wilke's Beach until she is at least 18.
I am looking for input as to the story line, the characterizations and general mass appeal. Thanks!!Chapters: |

Summary:Attention all nit-pickers. I need your help. I’ve read this too many times and can no longer see grammar or punctuation issues, and I’m not sure but there may be a problem with tense. It seems fluid. Any other thoughts will be most welcomed. The story is complete as written and I’m at the point of submission. Thanks.Chapters: |

Summary:The post-modern workplace in a non-post-modern setting.I have struggled with the beginning for a long time. I’ve already reduced it by about four pages but feel it still needs to be tightened up at the start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Had to post in two parts due to word count so can I ask that both parts be read before reviewing? Thanks!Chapters: |
