 | A Suburban Halloween | kat nove | Short Story | Horror | 0 | 3.32 | Oct 30, 2011 |
Summary:Jake Sinclair takes his little brother trick-or-treating and finally discovers love. I wrote and posted this story four years ago. It was my first attempt at horror, which is my favorite genre. Tomorrow at work I'll be dressed as a zombie writer - pj bottoms, bunny slippers and the first makeup I've worn in about six years. With any luck, I'll scare all the customers away, although some of them will lecture me on the evils of Halloween. Happy Halloween!Chapters: |

Summary: Originally, I wrote this story as my submission for the Halloween short story contest. However, due to making a newbie mistake in my credit calculations, I was unable to upload it in time for the competition. It is still a timely story for the Halloween season and I am considering making this tale the first chapter of a much larger story.
I have a categorical question regarding this submission that maybe someone out there could answer. What is the best genre to classify this story as, for example, is it best classified as fantasy, or young adult? My original instinct was to post it generically as short story fiction, but that does not seem to be an option. Additionally, I appreciate any comments, critiques, editorial suggestions, and any advice you can offer to improve my writing. I am always deeply and sincerely grateful for any help that is offered!
