 | Les Grandes Histoires de la Famille Faux | Laura-Anne | Novel | Humor | 5 | n/a | May 7, 2012 |
Summary:<<< Please dip in at any chapter, they are written independently and can be read as one offs.>>>
A satirical look at an English family through 1,000 years. The story follows the history of the "Le Faux" family and their botherings with the French, the Throne, the Church, the New World, Darwinism, industrial revolutions, innumerous wars, bad fashion, poor dentistry and of course, unusual sexual predilections followed by strong cups of tea. The "Le Faux" family genealogy comes with a veracity borne through obsessive attention to third-hand accounts and an equally fervent disregard for historical fact. Any and all feedback welcome. It is meant to be tongue in cheek and absurd. Thanks, Laura xChapters: |
 | The Prodigal Housekeeper | don michael | Novel | Literary Fiction | 6 | n/a | Jan 13, 2012 |
Summary:'The Prodigal Housekeeper' is a light-hearted novel with all 17 chapters posted.
New readers are warmly invited to give it a try. After much help with each chapter from reviewers, I would now like to know how the book reads in its entirety.
A review from time to time, or at the end, will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Don

 | Ever After | Zer0 | Short Story | Literary Fiction | 8 | 1.82 | Dec 18, 2011 |
Summary:This is a fairytale like none other you have ever read. It is intended to expose, invert and reverse the myriad of intolerant, oppressive, degrading ideologies attached to historical fairytale narratives such as the 'Grimm's Fairy Tales' collection and their Disney reenactments. It is part satire and part intense drama. I would very much like to hear what people think of it. Chapters: |

Summary:A dark farce. Two women in a crowded restaurant discuss their marital problems. A lot of intermingling of dialogue, rapid scene shifting. Do you think it works? BTW, based on reviews of my other stories I've been more careful re: over tagging of dialogue, author intrusion. I think I've improved on that. Candid input, please.Chapters: |

 | It's All Mercenary (First Draft) | k_s_talyn | Novel | Fantasy | 25 | n/a | Nov 27, 2008 |
Summary:It's All Mercenary is a humorous take on the overly used plot of a quest. You have your generic characters: Mage, Barbarian, Healer, Mercenary, etc, but they are filled by personalities who don't quite fit the boundaries of their roles. Told in first person. I have thick skin, so don't be afraid to tell it like you see it. NOTE TO NEW READERS: The early chapters need a lot of work. I know this and I will edit them eventually. This is only a first draft.Chapters: |

Aussie slang: Field day - a great time!!! A term used mostly by ageing Australian grannies, who were around when the Field Day was the only source of entertainment for those living on country properties ("ranches" for the Americans LOL)
A Field Day was an agricultural show/fair, where farm machinery was displayed, chemical companies (now desperately going organic)talked to their clients, and fruit and vegie packaging companies took their orders for the next financial year. Sometimes an animal nursery was provided for the rugrats accompanying parents and grandparents. This was to prevent them killing themselves by climbing on Combine Harvesters, falling off and thereby blowing the organising committee's public liability payments.
