Summary:This piece was an exercise in cathartic release. After re-reading, I laughed. So, I gave it a Humor tag. I don't know if anyone else would see (dark) humor in it, so I thought I'd post it and ask. How you would label such a short story? Of course I would appreciate any other critique you might have to offer. Also, can anyone tell me how to format line spacing if not using Word? Windows 7 doesn't seem to offer 'Accessories' as in the days of old!Chapters: |

Summary:NOTE: THIS IS AN OLD, OUTDATED VERSION OF THIS NOVEL. PLEASE SEE THE 2012 VERSION I'M ENTERING FOR THE STRONGEST START CONTEST.
STORYLINE: There is a new store in town. It's the first store ever to sell hope over the counter. With record unemployment, home foreclosures, and cluster suicides -- the store couldn't open at a better time. Luke Nagano is the inventor of The Hope Store. Jada Upshaw is one of his first customers. Amidst a deluge of seekers and cynics, scientists and naysayers -- a cynical journalist sets out to infiltrate the store. He wants to discover if The Hope Store is a scientific breakthrough, or a brazen scam to profit off the hopeless. On top of this, the store's investors give Luke just six months to turn a profit. But Luke has some ideas of his own to ensure that his dream store flourishes. A magic-realist tale set in the new millennium where anything can -- and often does -- happen.Chapters: |
