The Poppy Field: final draft

This is a story of a missionary family who goes to the Guatemalan highlands near the Mexican border to spread God's Word to the native indigenous Mam-speaking population. The family is befriended by a local drug lord. Immediately the temptations begin. By the time reality sets in, it is too late and they are trapped in luxury. This is literary fiction despite the young age of the narrator. He is telling the story from the future.
