 | The Reluctant Vampire Queen | Ethereal Angel | Novel | Fantasy | 0 | n/a | Jan 6, 2009 |
Summary:Elena Castillo, newly-minted Vampire "Queen" of San Francisco learns quickly to tackle the challenges, politics and intrigues of reigning over her own Court. She begins to see how this offers just about as many dilemmas as navigating the confusing waters of the life of a "normal" 20-something single living (and hopefully loving) in the City. Who knew finding a decent man in the Bay Area would be so hard? Wasn't she supposed to have left this kind of drama behind... some four centuries ago? Chapters: |

Summary:Hi, I've disabled my chapters. For one thing, I'm not able to reciprocate reviews right now, so to avoid new readers coming in, I've disabled my early chapters. I appreciate all reviews, but I strongly prefer readers start from chapter one. If my early chapters aren't available, please check back another time. There are lots of good stories available to read here. I recommend one of those. Thanks! Colorado Sheriff, Luke Hayden, unravels the perfect murder, but the killer may never face justice unless Hayden administers it himself. Chapters: |
 | Dvorak's Rival (First Revision) | Ann Elle Altman | Novel | Mystery and Crime | 0 | n/a | Jan 6, 2009 |
Summary:This is my re-write of the Cookie-Cutter Code. Erin Brown wanted me to kick it up a notch! So here goes...
Brilliant Sophia Draper is addicted to her work. As a recent recruit to the MI5's Code Breaking Unit, she has cracked dozens of encrypted communications and computer discs belonging to suspected organised criminals and terrorists. However, her complete focus on her job has alienated her from family, friends, and her fiance.
Theophilus Blackwell is a great police officer and husband. His colleagues knows him as a smart detective who believes in justice and as a husband who loyally cares for his wife after her debilitating car accident. Everyone, that is, except his wife. She has no idea who he is.
When Theo's murder investigation team receives a cryptic message by post seemingly related to a string of murders they're working on, Theophilus calls on his old school friend Sophia.
With lives at stake, they must put their personal demons aside and work together in hopes of cracking the code and bringing the killer to justice before the time runs out for the next victim?
Suggestions Erin made...did I get it right?
1) New title...(clue to solving the code)
2) Theo has a better personality...stronger...not such a mama's boy.
3) Sophia and the book have a hook (oh, that rhymes)
4) Dialog...less stilted. (Hopefully. I've had lots of practice...)

 | YA-Motor Dolls | modobenny | Novel | Young Adult | 0 | n/a | Jan 6, 2009 |
Summary:The agent who requested I rewrite as YA, has signed me. Now we're making some changes to the back half of the book to add tension. I want to keep it ramping up, as opposed to dropping and rising as I did in the old draft. I won't be reposting the full novel, only the sections I'm currently working on. Those who have read MDs, great! I could really use you. New reviewers are welcome, as long as the feedback doesn't say, "You need to develop the characters more..." since there are eighteen chapters prior. Thanks in advance...
### Meet the MOTOR DOLLS: Jeda, a thrill seeker who believes she’ll be dead by her eighteenth birthday, and Benny, an emancipated teen who finds her calling documenting her friend’s final days on film.Jeda pushes the boundaries of normal behavior: luging down a steep hill on a skateboard, flying off the Santa Monica Pier with a handmade kite, and plunging into a vat of dye at a T-shirt factory. Why? Because all of her life, curious items have been left to entice her. Even though Benny goes along with Jeda, she doesn’t believe the “death by eighteen” thing. Benny's opinion shifts, however, after spotting a mysterious, grey-suited man in many of her photographs. The man always appears when Jeda is at the apex of danger. That observation, coupled with Benny’s secret knowledge that their meeting had not been random, leads Benny to believe Jeda’s life must be more than it seems. Enter Mary Jane Goldberg, a forlorn gold-digger chasing any guy with a buck while her self-image plummets like a penny to the gutter. She crosses paths with the Motor Dolls, taking from Benny the things she treasures most, her cameras. Now Jeda is on a mission for vegence, and Benny a quest for her identity.Chapters: |
 | Journeys, Two-up | Folio | Novel | Non-Fiction | 0 | n/a | Jan 6, 2009 |
Summary:This book describes two journeys I made in the last half of 2008: a 9,000-mile motorcycle trek across the United States followed by a three-week tour of ancient Egypt and Jordan. It is a travelogue of small adventures, fascinating people, and majestic sights encountered in two venues worlds apart. They are of the same cloth: a single pilgrimage taken in a vain—and not so vain—attempt to cope with the death of my wife after her long battle with cancer. Thus, this book is also a travelogue of another, very personal journey.
What works and what doesn't? Melodramatic? I have a very thick skin, so please give your best shot. Chapters: |

 | ANTAGONY | John Hamler | Novel | Humor | 3 | n/a | Jan 6, 2009 |
Summary:I subconsciously switch tense between chapters and then tell myself it's just another way to keep things interesting. We'll see. HA! Also, since I haven't worked out the entire plot at this point, I basically write a bunch of loosely connected scenes and then tell myself it makes for experimental structure. We'll have to see about that too. The first four chapters (actually seven) are all prologue. At first, I planned on writing a full-length novel that was entirely a prologue to a story that never happens, but have since shelved that idea in favor of no idea at all. Well, maybe that is the idea after all. Anyway, have fun suckas!Chapters: |

Summary:Think your life’s boring? Try living in a town called Dullindreary, where the Mulligan’s fast growing lawn is front page, second and even third page news! That’s the plight of 13 year old James Daniel, an orphan living at the Duffet Home for Disadvantaged Boys & Girls who dreams of nothing more than a life of adventure. Much like the life of his next door neighbor the wildly eccentric Stanley Umpert, a former “treasure hunter” turned shop keeper. In fact, Mr. Umpert invites all of the children in the town, to sit and listen to the stories (without permission of course, most of the adults think he’s completely off his rocker and wouldn’t knowingly let their children within 50 feet of him) about his days exploring the truly fantastical world just on the other side of the mirror in his cellar.Chapters: |

Looking for feedback of any kind. Particularly need to know if Jamaica comes through clearly as a character, since I always seem to forget to add local color. Using American spelling this time around.

Summary:This revision of "Lost Grandmother" includes a more serious plot element as well as other features added to the original. An agent suggested a more compelling plot and I decided that grief was just the thing. I'm interested to know if the story would be sufficiently engaging for readers from 12-15 yrs. Since none of the reviewers fit that group, you'll just have to guess. Chapters: |

 | THE ACCIDENTAL THERAPIST | Lost Soul | Novel | Humor | 1 | n/a | Jan 5, 2009 |
Summary:Having spent many a year on the therapist couch I think I am well qualified to write on the subject. However I will be writing from the side of the Therapist who by stroke of good fortune for him, bad fortune for the other guy winds up with a practise already set up and a building to practice in as well. This will be full of sarcasm, cynicism, legal ethical and moral lines are blured so far out of porportion that our protagonist no longer has a sense of what is normal and morally and ethically right.
Would love to know how I rate on the funny scale 1 being not funny at all and 10 being hillarious. I would also like to know if you are hooked or when you got hooked, or does it hook you at all.
Thanks,

The first few chapters describe the character, the setting and the motives behind his actions. Tony Ransom is involved in a drive-by shooting that isn't his fault. He is targeted by an underground cult that is something like the Alluminati. They are only interested in forcing others to repent from their actions. Tony is jumped, dumped by his ex then drifts alone in poverty before committing an unbeleivable crime. I will start it here. Thank you.Chapters: |

Summary:This poem just came to me whole. I don't know if it's actually a poem or a song... or an unfinished piece of one of those. I haven't been picky about punctuation, and in fact I have deliberately left it all in lower case (very unlike me)! I just wanted to get the words down as they came, so I am open to suggestions for formatting/mechanics, although I will likely tweak it myself anyway.

Summary:The Shroud Of Turin. Only one of kind like it. It interested me during a very tough time in my life when I was searching for faith. I beleive it may be the real shroud used to wrap the Christ. I still wrestle with faith these days but this poem came from the heart and I hope it can spark thoughts into people like me. Plus it's that time of the year, I thought it was fitting. Btw, I wanted to post it for Christmas but my phoneline went down for a week. So here it is again. In my own interpretation. Cheers.TJChapters: |
